07/31 Robideaux RV Park.

  07/31

From Rock Springs, WY

To Gering, NE

Robidoux RV Park

For my last entry related to my 9-state tour, I wanted to share a part of the journey full of scenic views as well as a most beautiful campground, Robidoux RV Park in Gering, Nebraska.

Awesome rock formations seen along the way. Scotts Bluff National Monument is nearby. Scotts Bluff served as a major landmark for pioneers traveling on the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails. It was one of the most significant landmarks west of the Missouri River.

Although I did not visit, the National Monument, it's pictured below. It was named after Hiram Scott, a fur trader who reportedly died near the bluff in 1828 under mysterious circumstances. His death became part of the local folklore.

Long before pioneers, the bluff was significant to Native American tribes, including the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Pawnee, who used it as a landmark and hunting ground.

First impressions: Excellent campground. While registering at the office and taking a look around, the view was one of a beautiful, serene, neatly laid out campground. Wide open spaces all around.

Located at the base of historic Scotts Bluff National Monument, the campground is just 12 miles east of the Wyoming border and has a population of 8,500. It has a total area of 15 acres with rest rooms and showers, multipurpose use building, outdoor BBQ grills, basketball court, playground structure and 42 concrete slab RV pads with picnic tables, electric, water and sewer hook-ups.

Beautifully landscaped.

There are 42 sites, each surrounded by bluegrass and open spaces with a breathtaking view of the Scotts Bluff National Monument. Each campsite includes paved drives and patios with individual picnic tables.

Clean, manicured; well maintained. Lots of empty sites.

The view from my campsite.

Well, that does it for now. The next six stops and campgrounds will be the usual overnight stays taking me to August 11th when I will join the Hudson Islanders in Ronks, PA at the Mill Ridge Village Campground for a week. I hope to see you there. Thanks for coming along for the trip. It was memorable. For those who are into statistics. I've compiled this summery of my travels (One Way).
Days Traveled = 46
Miles Traveled = 5,333
Average Miles Driven in a Day = 116
Gallons of Diesel Used =  524
Average Cost of Fuel = $3.76

    1. Yes, thanks for coming along. Sorry, I'm not a bike guy. Up to this point, I've never heard of Sturgis being the Mecca it is. And yes, September will be full of goodies as well. Looking forward to it. Stay safe.
